Good Afternoon,
by § 4 of ACE Lexicon Specification 6.7,
* http://attempto.ifi.uzh.ch/site/docs/ace_lexicon.html
intersections of certain word classes are not allowed.
This rule seems to apply to the word forms.
However, it is not entirely evident from the text of the specification,
if clashes are forbidden:
a --
Only for word forms of the same lemma (logical symbol), or
b --
Also for word forms of distinct lemmata (logical symbols)?
Can someone clarify on this? :-)
The distinction does not only have consequences for the productivity of
the grammar, but also for an implementation of ACE in an OOP
environment, because preventing word form clashes only on the same lemma
(situation a) would be a concern of the implementation of lemmata, while
preventing word form clashes on distinct lemmata (situation b) would be
a concern of the implementation of lexica.
Bests
